I've been lurking on the list for a month or so, figured it's time to
speak up.

I've been flying about three years. I grew up around planes, flew with
others a lot, but somehow didn't get my license until age 44. As a kid
I loved aerobatics, but that was always with someone else doing the
flying. I haven't been in any aerobatic planes in the last three years.

I'm planning to buy my first plane in the not too distant future, and it
would be nice to have something I could learn aerobatics in. Budget is
an issue, so I don't see a Pitts S2B in the picture just yet. <g> One
friend recommended finding a clipped wing cub; he said it would be good,
low power fun, I could learn aerobatics in it, and "move up" to
something more powerful in a year or two.

Haven't seen too many clipped wing cubs around. Saw a clipped wing
Taylorcraft in Trade-A-Plane recently. I've been trying to find a list
on the internet somewhere that will tell me what older planes are
suitable for aerobatics, but have had no luck.

So - any recommendations for a "starter" aerobatic plane? In the under
$40K category? Oh, and I need two seats or there's no way I can get my
wife to agree.

I've seen Stardusters and Skybolts that looked interesting. What's a
Zlin 42M? What did you learn aerobatics in? Would you buy one now?

thanks,
