Tom Adams & any interested parties

Our recent discussions on the Acro Exploder regarding Square (ram air) parachutes for use in Pilot Emergency Parachute Systems have led to a new forum that will be added to the IAC Forums at Sun N Fun 2001. This forum has been scheduled too late to be in the official Sun N Fun program but is scheduled for Thursday 12 April at 12:00 in the IAC Forum tent. It will be posted on the updated daily schedule in the Forum area. I encourage everyone that has interest in the use of square parachutes for emergency use to attend this very informative discussion.

John LeBlanc, design engineer, at Performance Designs (manufacturers of square parachutes) will be there to compare round and square parachutes and discuss the benefits and limitations of each. He will also cover the performance standards that both types of canopies have had to meet which apply to the aerobatic, experimental, and glider pilot.

Performance Designs is well known in the parachute industry. They have designed & manufactured approximately 100,000 square parachutes (for civilian and military use) since 1984. They supply Para-Phernalia, Inc with the square canopies that are offered as an option in the SOFTIE line of Pilot Emergency Parachute Systems.
