This message is being sent to all who have pre-registered for the Nationals
as well as the IAC Exploder Mailing List. If you have no interest in
information on the Nationals, you can click "Delete" now.
For the rest of you, I'm really excited about the way things are shaping up
for the Nationals. We now have 56 pilots pre-registered, which I find very
encouraging. Since my last email to the pre-registrants, we've had 8
additional pilots pre-register. If you are one of these, please contact me
by email so that you can sign up for practice times. Each pilot will
receive one 10-minute practice slot in the box. I've attached the most
recently updated file so you can see which slots are still available.
Basically, Sunday is full with the exception of 2 early morning slots.
Saturday is pretty much wide open.
I appreciate those of you who have volunteered to help monitor the box. I
am going to make up a poster, dividing each day into 2-hour increments, and
hang that up outside the registration trailer. That way if you want to
volunteer to help monitor the box you can sign up for a 2-hour slot. Box
monitoring will basically entail clearing the pilot in, then giving him/her
a 1-minute warning that time's almost up, then telling them to clear out at
let's say 15 or 20 seconds prior to clearing in the next pilot.
The next thing I wanted to make sure you're all aware of are the issues in
the IAC Policy and Procedures Manual that pertain to Nationals and Team
Selection. To read the pertinent sections of the IAC P&P, Go to the IAC
Website www.iac.org. Sign into the members only section by clicking
"members", then enter your last name and EAA number. Once in the members
only section, move your cursor over (but do not click) the word "leadership"
that is in the blue bar right under the page header. By moving your cursor
over the word "leadership" a menu will pull down. The bottom selection on
the menu is "Policy and Procedures manual". Click that. The section
relevant to team selection is section 704. Section 704 is divided into 4
parts:
Part 1 is the General section covering all three Aerobatic Teams
Part 2 covers the Unlimited Power Team
Part 3 covers the Advanced Power Team
Part 4 covers the Unlimited Glider Team
While you're there, you might want to look over section 702 and 703 which
cover The IAC Championships, the Glider National Championships, and the
Power National Championships as well to make sure you are aware of any
special policies governing our U.S. National Championships.
I know I have promised rental car information; however, I have received
minimal feedback. Lisa Wegener is going to try to work out a group rate
considering the number of people who have requested cars though we are very
short of the 40 cars that Budget Rent-A-Car needed us to commit to before
giving us the group rate. I will be forwarding on that information later
today as I know many of you are eager to get your plans made. Thank you for
your patience.
Nationals is going to be a great contest this year, I can tell. If you have
any questions, please contact me by email at princess70 at earthlink.net or by
phone at 970-613-8099.
Take care,
Allyson Parker-Lauck, Contest Director
2001 U.S. National Aerobatic Championships
