I guess that means myself, amongst others. I'm referring to the article on
page 4 of the August issue of Sport Aerobatics.

Philip Carter's article on The Future of Aerobatics should start lots of
debate. Its about time that Cranfield students again looked at the design of
an aerobatic aircraft. I was a student there when the A-1 was being built so
that certainly qualifies me as a fossil. A lot of work behind the
Hummingbird proposal. Looks to me like a cross between an Ultrabat and an
Optica. The next step of testing the ducted propellers should indicate
whether its got enough thrust to hover.

Welcome to Jacob Ruhl - Mechanical Engineer at Aviat, by the way. I've heard
that times are difficult for Aviat (as they are for others in the aviation
industry right now). I guess things will start to pick up again now.

Regards,
Dave Pilkington
(Fossilized Senior Engineer)

PS - for those who've connected with me at BAE Systems (or Boeing before
that) it seems that I'm unable to hold down a job for long these days - I'm
now at GKN's new facility in Australia so that means I have a whole bunch of
new colleagues around the world.
