Sunday afternoon, Sept.13, 1998 Anyone who has read Allison's report of the Nationals must have felt the heat. I have no doubt about it. Thanks for a great job, Princess! Here's some supplement, as I remember. Highest Scoring First Time Sportsman Award went to Matt Thomas. There were three first time competitors at this year's Nationals. Matt, Steve Watkins and myself. Matt, flying his 6-cylinder AcroDuster, won the Prize finishing at 15th place out of 18 Sportsman competitors. Matt is a very nice Air Force guy, who flies a special forces MH-53 helicopter for living. This young man might even beat the unlimited pilots if someone invented a contest to fly "Low and Slow At Night"! Good job, Matt! A special word of thanks was awarded to Kurt Haukohl from Contest Director Glenn Frick. Everyone on this list knows how much work Kurt dedicated to the set up and update the US Nationals website. I believe he deserves attention, as this kind of work is very important to let the public know about our sport, and Kurt did a superb job. Great work, Kurt! Safe flying! Maverick Yamamoto IAC #20451
