I just had the third exhust header crack on my 1996 Super D at 260 hrs.
The crack seems to start in the area of weld on the flange in the area near
the flange bolt hole. The weld bead in this area seems to be smaller than
the the rest of the flange. Have any of you Super D drivers experienced
similiar problems? The Amer. Champ. factory now stocks only replacement
headers that are "silver soldered". My mechanic prefers tic welding, so I
have sent the last two out to be re-welded. Comments?
Thanks,
Dave
