I have 700+ hours in the Pitts S1S and 150 hours in my 1D. No question that the 1D has more leg room than the S1S and T-model Pitts, and more shoulder room than the S1S. I needed to use a seat back to get the leg room in my Pitts which was not very comfortable on the butt for cx or a long acro flight. With the 1D I have returned to a back pack. Also in the Pitts I had to put a little inflatable pillow behind my back for cx because the seat -back was too straight me. Because of leg room I removed the pillow for acro. In the 1D I have adjusted the seat just the way I like it; that is, with plenty of leg room and the seat-back reclined. The Pitts is a great, wonderful airplane but the 1D is more comfortable, faster, more efficient cruise, rolls faster and penetrates farther. It ground tracks better than my Pitts did. ----- Original Message ----- From: Klusmanp at aol.com Sent: Monday, December 31, 2001 8:00 PM To: acro at gf24.de Subject: [Acro] Max pilot size - Pitts S-1S vs. DR-107 Can anyone tell me if there is any more room for tall pilots (this one with long legs) in a DR-107 than a Pitts S-1S? I'd still really prefer a Pitts due to the number of them available but I might consider a One Design if it has much more room than a Pitts. Also does the DR-107 have a reclined seat?
