 In the last few years, IAC board of directors has made it abundantly clear
that their agenda is to;

1) Support changes in the rules that will encourage new membership
2) More closely align IAC contest rules with those of the international
community (CIVA) in the higher categories

These aren't intrinsically bad goals. They may not be YOUR goals. They may
not even be the goals of the majority of the membership of the IAC; but it's
the direction that our club taking. If you don't like them, or think other
goals (like having mandatory safety standards) should take precedent, then
get elected to the BOD with a number of like- minded members. Change the
direction if you feel it's that important. For now, the present BOD thinks
that the direction they're heading in is the right one, and they are backing
it up with a lot of effort. Remember that these people are volunteers trying
to do what they think is best.

As far as the IAC promoting safety standards, IMHO that will change- in the
same way that the traffic light is finally put up at a dangerous
intersection- when the first pilot is killed while flying IN a contest. Kurt
and Chapter 69 are just trying to protect themselves and make it harder for
a nipple headed pilot to kill himself. It won't only be the IAC who takes
heat when it happens.
