The purchase price of the aircraft doesn't matter. The question is ita production aircraft or a homebuilt? If it is a production aircraft, the cost will depend on how many modifications (radios, overhauls, etc.) have been made since manufature. Also the better the quality of the logs will make for a cheaper importation. Canadian logs are much more thorough than US. Its much easier and cheaper to bring a Canadian aircraft to the US than the other way around. Make sure you get a Certificate of Export in Favour of the United States (commonly referred to as an Export C of A) from the seller before you de-regisiter the aircraft. Ensure that this is part of your purchase contract, otherwise you can be stuck with an airplane that you can't register in Canada or the US (in other words a v. expensiveand large lawn ornament. This is a Transport Canada document that will make it very easy to import once you ferry it to the US. >From: Klusmanp at aol.com >To: acro at gf24.de >Subject: [Acro] $$ to import aircraft from Canada? >Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 22:35:22 EST > >Can anybody give a rough idea of the cost (importing fees, inspection fees, >airworthiness cert fees, etc.) for importing an airplane from Canada to US? >The aircraft price is $39,000 US. > >Thanks, >Paul Klusman > _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp.
