  Dear Paul:
Actually if you look at the lift curves of an aircraft while spinning you'll 
see that both wings (left and right side, inside or outside) are stalled.  
The downgoing wing or inside wing is stalled to a greater degree than the 
upgoing or outside wing.  There still is a significant difference in lift 
between the two wings.  Hence the auto rotation.
