Super Fli was designed by Phil Kraft in Oceanside, CA. Phil was an early IAC'er, he was famous for his Radio Control systems for model airplanes. Super Fli made it's debut in 1975. I got to fly it a couple of times. It flew very nice, the visibility was great and it was easy to fly. It didn't have real good vertical penetration and the roll rate was very slow, but it did fly nicely. It had a fixed pitch prop and a 200 HP Lyc. Super Fli sold me on low mid wing monoplanes. Ian Padden bought it from Phil in the early 90's. He put pumped six cylinder Lycoming and 3 blade MT prop on it and modified the whole look of the airplane. He tried to make it look like it had a round engine as well as a lot of other changes. This work was done at Santa Paula. Ian sold shortly after the mods were complete it and I lost track of it. He renamed it Vortex. Dan Rihn
