when I sealed the Rudder and Elevator gaps in my 1D I saw a 5mph increase in
IAS. When I removed them the 5mph was lost then I re-installed them and got
the 5mph back again. Proved to the that the Gaps seals work. The only
disadvantage, if it is one, is that the elevator became too sensitive for me
so now only part of the elevator is sealed and it feels about right for me.

Be aware that some aileron gaps should not se sealed.

.When I sealed the aileron gaps in my C-model Pitts it was fine, I got a
quicker response at the initiation of a roll but a little more force
required for full deflection. I don't believe that the gaps in the
monoplanes should be sealed. So check with the engineers, they can tell ya.
