I have finally come to the conclusion after nailing the last ten or so landings in the Pitts (before being previously very uptight about doing a landing): First, you just have to say "Screw it!". This isn't a Cherokee, a Cub, a Citabria, or even and Extra. It is not going to glide itself down to the runway at a nice leisurely pace, it is going to be falling like a brick. (actually a brick has a better glide ratio). You are coming over the fence at a speed some airplanes cruise at. You are going to be tense, so just BUCK-UP and DEAL WITH IT! You are NOT going to be able to see very well so know your landing environment and be familiar with it. A properly rigged Pitts will head EXACTLY where you point it, so get it on the runway straight and leave the rudders alone. Nobody ever sees the good landings (DAD, I am getting some), just the ugly ones, so DEAL WITH IT! Finally, you bought a Pitts because that is the dream of most newbie aerobatic pilots. You knew first off that they are a beast to land and you bought it anyway, SO DEAL WITH IT! And most important, ENJOY IT!!! You have a PITTS! ===== Paul Stambaugh - IAC Chapter 88 Pitts S1-S N34RM "Psycho Therapy" SkyTours Aerobatics - The Ultimate Aerobatic Experience www.skytoursaerobatics.8m.com Ann Arbor, MI & Toledo, OH Phone: Days, Office (810)-986-0389, Evenings (419) 269-0626 Cell: 248-705-8495 __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
