A quick reminder to everyone of the upcoming Hill Country Hammerfest contest to be held in Llano, TX on 8-10 August. For those of you planning on attending, you should make your hotel reservations ASAP as there is a National drag boat race being held the same weekend in nearby Marble Falls, and hotel rooms in the area are filling up quickly. The contest headquarters hotel (Hill Country Suites) is already full. Hope to see you there! BTW- Of possible interest to some, the local FAA folks have graciously given notification that they will be in attendance at the contest, at least on Friday. The original contest announcement follows this note. Jeffery Poehlmann Assistant CD ----------------------------- Ladies and Gentlemen, IAC Chapter 107 of Austin, Texas would like to invite you all to the 2002 Hill Country HammerFest, at the Llano Municipal Airport (6R9), just north of Llano, Texas. For those of you unfamiliar with Llano it is on the SAT Sectional, at N 30 47.07'; W 98 39.61' or LLO (Llano VOR) 089R at 6.5 DME. No matter what, come hail or high water this contest WILL BE HELD, even if we have to throw darts for the trophies! (We've already HAD the high water, so we're hoping we're good on that one...). Dates for this Aerobatic Extravaganza will be Friday and Saturday August 9 & 10, 2002. Registration and practice will be Thursday, August 8, and we'll keep Sunday the 11th handy as a rain date. This contest will feature all five powered categories, Primary through Unlimited, and every attempt will be made to fly three full flights for each category. Llano Flying Service have granted us the use of their brand new 60x60 hangar as well as other hangars on the field. They have guaranteed hangar space for those pilots attending the contest. They also have 100LL for $1.80/gallon. We're planning a Pizza Party Thursday night on the Field after practice, dinner Friday night at the Llaneaux Seafood House, and the Banquet Saturday night at Inman's Kitchen featuring the world famous Llano Barbeque. The City of Llano has graciously arranged for us to have use of a 'Dillo bus for transportation to and from the various contest functions. Entry fee of $110 for Sportsman thru Unlimited and $70 for Primary, includes T- shirt, dinner Friday night, the Banquet Saturday night and transportation to and from the Hotels to the Contest. Additional meals will be $20/meal. Hangar fee of $10/night will be collected at registration.
