My Yak 55 has tape around the hinge pin / bearing area only - not along
the leading edge sections.
This improved the roll rate - but only the initial rate ie. faster off
the line - great for point rolls ,
however it made little difference to the overall max roll rate .such as
full rolls etc.
As I understand the Ail's are designed to have the gap or rather at max
deflection the airflow remains attached better - or something like this??
Gap sealing on a YAKwas tried here in Australia but according to my Info
it did not work well.

Best Regards
