Another really superb explanation of flight is _The Simple Science of
Flight_ by Henk Tennekes, MIT Press, London, 1997. ISBN 0-262-20105-4.

The book explains - with all the necessary formulae, math, and diagrams -
how principles of flight are the same for 747s, terns, swallows,
mosquitoes, and dozens of other things that fly. Have you ever wondered
how a 747's fuel utilization compares to a hummingbird's? How to land a
pelican? The drag on a budgie? Wing loading of a fruit fly? If you
love flying, you gotta read this book!
