There has been lots of smack about how hot the nomex suits are at contests. I wear a royal blue military spec suit, and yes, it is hot. The ramp at Paso Robles last year reached 115 degrees F! My solution has been to put the thing on 5 minutes before my flight, fly the sequence, and take it off. The military-type suits zip all the way down, and once you get your engine running, you have instant air conditioning anyway. At least at the California contests, staying hydrated is always stressed, and plenty of water and other liquids are always readily available. A little more sweat is a small price to pay in my book.
