I guess a one-eyed boundary judge isn't so bad. It seems everyone closes one eye when they line up with the sighting device. I just hope he closed the right one. :) I think a bigger problem than judges who cannot see is the occassional judge who interprets the Red Book for himself and the judge who just isn't paying attention during a flight. How many times have you heard a discussion about the number of rolls done in a rolling 360? Is it that hard to count to 4? In the VAST majority of cases, IAC judging is great. Like anything, there is always a little room for improvement, but I don't see the need for major overhaul. It's too bad Jerry Gerdes' newsletter had to be discontinued. That is the sort of thing needed to maintain the desired level of proficiency that we all want. That "thump" you just heard is me falling off my soapbox. Jim Klick
