Italian Nationals have been concluded on Oct 26-27 with Unlimited and 4'
Unfortunately, bad visibility and low ceiling allowed no flight at all, and
most pilots were unable even to arrive in Vercelli Airport.
Bad weather is usual there in this season, but it was necessary to postpone
the contest until after final delivery of National Team's aircraft coming
from USA after XVIII WAC: in fact, it would have been really unfair to have
the final without Team's pilots, unable to fly for lack of aircraft, after
the bright 4th place scored at Oklahoma City.
Anyway, WAC participation, requiring a 3-months stop for Team members, and
cancellation of several contests for various reasons (two organizing Aero
Clubs ceased operations) disrupted 1996 Unlimited Championship beyond any
The fate of 1996 Unlimited Championship is now unclear, pending a decision
of NAC Sporting Commission on assignment of the Title basing on the only
completed contest (Cuneo, May 25-26) or not. Rules are not exactly clear on
the point and an official interpretation is still awaited.
Ranking of Cuneo Contest is the following:

POS. PILOT AIRCRAFT K
1. DALLAN Sergio CAP-21DS 8,264
2. VOCERI Renzo Z50LS 7,864
3. ROSSINI Ruggero CAP-231EX 7,842
4. VIVIANI Fabio CAP-231EX 7,814
5. FOSSI Andrea CAP-231 7,603
6. BIASSONI Silvano CAP-231EX 7,205
7. COSTA Maurizio CAP-21DS 5,793

Organizers took the gamble and lost, but Italian Aerobatics has to be happy
for the globally positive result of the season: 65 pilots competed in
Sportsmen, Intermediate, Advanced and Unlimited; new aircraft entered the
arena (Extra 300L, Su-31, SU-29), many new pilots began competing.
And international results begin to come...
