gps receivers that must reacquire lock across multiple antennas as
the aircraft movement shields and unshields those antennas is an
extremely complex subject with research ongoing around the world.
this is not an inexpensive system that is ready to bolt on and fly,
and will not be for a while to come. there has been significant
progress on multiple antenna systems that provide artificial
horizon, but the maximum roll and pitch angles at which these systems
function is well short of what would be necessary for akro. to bridge
the gaps, gyro based inertial navigation is used to dead reakon
position. this adds even more complexity and cost, and again, is the
subject of much research. tom.
