The following message has been read. January 8, 1997 Patty, You wrote that the problem is "not winning". Please allow me to offer another perspective. My involvement with the U.S. team over the past 5 years has been limited to financial support. From my point of view I am not contributing so that the U.S. team will win. I am contributing so that the team can have the opportunity to represent the aerobatic pilots of this country. If they win, that's fine. If they don't win that's also fine as long as they participate in a manner consistent with the highest standards of sportsmanship. Quite frankly, when I visited the 1994 WAC in Debrecen, Hungary I came away somewhat disappointed with the sportsmanship (or lack of) exhibited by the U.S. team. I was not able to attend the 1996 WAC in Oklahoma but I have heard that there were still problems in this regard. I know how hard you and the other team members have worked in order to win, but I think it's important for you to know that I (and other contributors that I have talked to) are not disappointed with the results. You were up against the best pilots in the world and turned in a very creditable performance. I, for one, would like to thank the U.S. team for what they accomplished.
