If you do decide to purchase used equipment, find out if it was ever jumped and how the owner stored it. Then have a parachute rigger inspect the gear before you purchase it or talk to the rigger who last packed it (if possible). This will give you a better idea of the life left in the container or the parachute itself if the gear is not new. If you do not have a rigger in your area it may be easiest to send the rig to the manufacturer for inspection and repack. Have fun.
