With surprising move, while all considered 1996 Italian Championship for Unlimited and 4' Freestyle had beed declared vacant, Italian NAC's Board appointed Sergio Dallan as Champion for 4' Freestyle. Dallan was heading the preliminary standings after the only contest flown in 1996, since Final had been canceled for bad weather. In a previous session, Board declared to be unable to appoint the Titles because of this. Perhaps they were absent-minded... In the meantime, Sergio is back flying, after his June accident, and pushing hard on his new SU-31, the first certified and registered in Italy. Many changes have been introduced by Sergio himself on the type to improve reliability and reduce oil and fuel consumption, as well as reducing weight and failure points.
