Wednesday evening, Ron Menhorn of Chapter #34 died in the crash of his Acro Duster II while practicing aerobatics alone near Mt. Pleasant, PA, southeast of Pittsburgh. Witnesses said the airplane tumbled all the way to the ground. News photos indicate a near-vertical impact. The plane was two years old and the chute was one year old with a fresh repack. Weather was CAVU. The FAA will begin investigation today. Ron was 42 years old and a very careful, cautious pilot with excellent judgment.
