Jeff, I can relate to your regret in selling your trusty S1C. Last year I sold my first Pitts (see my "Last Page" article last summer). It's nice to see that some of the early Pitts S1's are still flying. Last year I sold S/N 11 which was the famous N8L (see Budd Davisson's Pitts Specials book) which was built by Pat Ledford and Curtis Pitts, and which was the testbed for the first Pitts roundwings. That was a fun little airplane. It's not the highest performance Pitts anymore, but she could teach you a lot. Someday when I'm rich I'll buy her back. Does anyone have any idea what is the oldest Pitts still flying? So it goes. 1967 Pitts Special S1-C, S/N 12P Built by Curtis Pitts, includes his original logs and signoffs, letters from Curtis to the original owner, etc. 800 TT E&A (rings at 550) 150 HP (high 70's compression) Excellent condition, lots of new stuff (tires, brakes, master cylinders, oil cooler, battery, exhaust, engine mounts) Black with off-white trim.
