As posted yesterday, Leo Loudenslager was involved in a serious motorcycle/automobile collision. Following is the latest available information: At 2:10 p.m. today, I spoke with Bill Beardsley at Leo's home. Leo is still in the Trauma Unit, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN. The physicians report that Leo's condition is extremely serious, " very touch and go, almost minute by minute". They report that it is his fighting spirit that is keeping him going at this point. His spinal cord is severed at the waist leaving him permanently paralyzed from that point down. He has two broken wrists and a broken pelvis He is, however lucid, alert and seems to enjoy hearing the names of friends who have inquired about him. Cards are appreciated. They may be sent to his home: Leo Loudenslager 2657 Buckner Road Thompson Station TN 37179 Bill says that the accident involved no excess speed or alcohol. Leo was wearing a helmet and does not have head injuries. It is not known why the other motorist crossed the centerline before striking Leo's motorcycle head on. Thats all for now. I'll send more as it comes available. Carl Whittle
