Here's my thoughts regarding Kurt's cyber ambush , as expressed to Dr. Rihn - and his politically correct(?) reply. Makes for some interesting reading....... He has been friendly, made constructive suggestions and offered encouragement while other "hot" competition pilots have behaved as if I were the proverbial, red-headed step child. >>To the purpose of this E-mail. I am appalled that Kurt Haukohl has been summarily evicted from the IAC exploder. Certainly, at times, his demeanor or net etiquette has not been perfect, but being 'booted' from the list is not in the spirit of a free and open exchange of ideas. In particular, a subliminal eviction executed by one person (if that was indeed solely Larry Walls' decision and action) , without benefit of any public proceeding, suggests the organization as a whole, is lacking forthrightness and integrity. Or, was Kurt evicted because, at times, he had challenged the "establishment"? >>I would strongly suggest that two actions occur. One, that if the IAC is going to lend their name to this list and wishes to retain some amount of credibility that prior to removing someone from the list, some form of 'public' proceeding occur. Two, that Kurt Haukohl be reinstated to the IAC exploder list. >> >>Sincerely, >>Stan Rooker >>EAA 57958 >>IAC 1860 >>Arlington, TX >> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- Return-Path: <RIHNAIRCO at aol.com> Received: from emout03.mail.aol.com from [198.81.11.94] by mail.airmail.net (/\##/\ Smail3.1.30.16 #30.181) with esmtp for <stan at airmail.net> id <m0wnrxx-000DcQB at mail.airmail.net>; Mon, 14 Jul 97 15:43:29 -0500 (CDT) Received: (from root at localhost) by emout03.mail.aol.com (8.7.6/8.7.3/AOL-2.0.0) id QAA05897 for stan at airmail.net; Mon, 14 Jul 1997 16:43:26 -0400 (EDT) Date: Mon, 14 Jul 1997 16:43:26 -0400 (EDT) From: RIHNAIRCO at aol.com Message-ID: <970714164111_1380306201 at emout03.mail.aol.com> To: stan at airmail.net Subject: Re: Kurt's Eviction/ Cyber Execution I have just arrived home from AWAC and read your concern for Kurt's status. The IAC does not control the exploder list. An earlier suggestion on my part that this be moved under the IAC/EAA banner to provide better protection from spam led to an outcry that this was a disguised attempt at IAC censorship. I have therefore kept hands off. The exploder will be free of IAC leadership control as far as I am concerned. It has its own life. There is a place for a free-wheeling forum apart from "official" IAC Web Site activity. The readers and exploder master can make it whatever they wish.
