Hi,

A close friend, whose father is dying from Lou Gehrig's disease wrote
this note to me, asking for help lobbying the FDA to make the right
decision, to release a drug which is critical to his dad. Your help in
forwarding Email to the three FDA decision makers listed below would be
most appreciated. Please follow the instructions at the bottom of this
message carefully. Thank you all, in advance, for your help.

Sincerely,

Hubie.

Subject: Please help me try to help my dad
Content-Type: text

As you know, my dad is one of the 30,000 or so Americans who is dying from
the most horrible imaginable disease, ALS which is commonly referred to as
Lou Gehrigs disease.

The FDA has been asked to approve a drug, Myotrophin, which has proven
effective, in some cases, in reversing some of the terrible effects of the
disease. The FDA approval committee, in it's screwed up reasoning has,
recommended that the FDA not approve the drug because it doesn't "always"
work. GIVE ME A BREAK. These people are dying a horrible death and anything
which even "MIGHT" work should be made available to them. Anyway the ALS
community including families and care givers etc. is asking that we all
simply email the following people to tell them to approve the drug. They
believe that the more people who voice their interest the better.

If you have a few minutes I'd appreciate it if you'd write them too. Even if
you get this email after the day they decide (11/11/97) write anyway. If
they have decided to ok the drug they will understand and appreciate the
email. If they have decided NOT to ok the drug, they deserve the hassle of a
gozillion emails.

Thank you for your help.

Ed Coleman

TODAY IS D-DAY FOR MYOTROPHIN

Once again we are facing the Myotrophin Approval Deadline.... which is
Tuesday, November 11th, and a federal holiday, Veteran's day.... We would
like you to help us again impress upon the FDA the need to approve Myotrophin
today so that PALS can begin looking forward to the future.

You can help us get Myotrophin approved! This is a drug that has shown to
benefit people who suffer from ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known
as Lou Gehrig's disease, and proven to be safe. It is the ONLY drug
demonstrated symptomatic effects and needs to be made available to the
30,000+ victims in the U.S. who are trying to STAY ALIVE with this fatal
disease.

All you have to do is send an email to these three officials at the Food &
Drug Administration:

Paul D Leber
Director, Div. of Neuropharmacology
LEBER at CDER.FDA.GOV

Robert Temple
Associate Director for Med P
TEMPLE at CDER.FDA.GOV

Michael A. Friedman
Deputy Commissioner
MFRIEDMAN at OC.FDA.GOV

The subject/title of your email should read "GIVE PALS A FUTURE--APPROVE
MYOTROPHIN" Your text need only be an exclamation mark, but you must have
text in your email.

Please forward this notice to everyone you know.
