  Eddie,

The basic formula is that aircraft with 260 hp or more are excluded, but
most aircraft are approved/disapproved by CIVA on a case-by-case basis (the
SU-26 is excluded btw). Other than any aircraft with less than 260 hp,
these are the current exceptions which are OK for European or World
competition:

Zlin 50L, LA, LS, and LX
Pitts S-1 (all models except S-1-11B)
Pitts S-2B (CIVA has not addressed the S-2C, unless it happened at the
November meeting)
Pitts S-2S
Ultimate 300
Yak 54, 55

Initial approval for a new type to compete in Advanced competitions may be
sought by the CIVA delegate of the country concerned and granted by CIVA at
its plenary meeting or by the Bureau of CIVA is so authorized.

The current list of excluded and included aircraft can be found in Appendix
6 of the CIVA Regulations, Part 3 - "Events for Advanced Category". That
regulation is currently available only in print form, but will be available
"in the near future" at <http://www.fai.org/aerobatics/documents/>.

Best,

Brian Howard
Chairman, IAC Rules Committee
